Kairos is an incredibly flexible break reminder with a focus on coaching people to work safely. It monitors users' mouse and keyboard use and warns them when they're working in an unhealthy manner. The software is effective within even the most deadline-driven workplaces, including call centers. It also provides a tool that enables each computer user to ergonomically customize his or her workstation. This is especially useful for shared workstations. Also part of the module are eye-catching screensavers that reinforce the computer-safety message.
Review
This program strikes us more as a full-fledged ergonomic solution than a simple break reminder. In its primary function, Kairos periodically prompts you when it's time to take a break from work or perform special exercises. However, the app goes beyond that by educating you about the ins and outs of healthy computing. For example, the program helps you find which work habits you should change to avoid repetitive stress disorders, and it teaches you special exercises. If you like, it can even administer a quiz to test your ergonomic knowledge. On the downside, the app's interface doesn't integrate all dialog boxes well, and the utility takes a considerable amount of RAM when running in the background. Still, Kairos will be especially useful for companies that wish to ensure the ergonomic health of their staffs.
