BitCleaner easily removes your Internet history, unwanted files, and any other personal information your computer has stored. It uses a unique, highly intelligent method to remove this information without leaving a trace. BitCleaner completely removes files by using the Government Security Standard, meaning that once the information is erased it's completely removed from the computer. BitCleaner also has a Back-up option that allows you to back up key files and restore them at a later time. You also can password protect the backup file, allowing it to be restored only with a password. BitCleaner has an easy-to-use interface, which allows even the most beginning user to navigate and perform its functions easily and quickly. The program also has a Confirm Operations option that gives a step-by-step walkthrough.
Version 2.0 offers a Back-up to File option, allowing you to back up frequently used information.
Review
This utility belongs to the category of privacy protectors that clean log files such as the cache and temporary Web files. It offers a number of security options for deleting files and erasing data so it can't be recovered. The interface is very clear, but BitCleaner doesn't add a Securely Delete option to the Explorer context menu. We also were a bit disappointed you can't schedule a cleaning session. Though its high security options make this a viable tool for erasing your tracks, BitCleaner's lack of configurability and the absence of a few key features keep it out of the winner's circle.
