Review
This narrowly focused program nonetheless makes it easy to apply basic edits and filters to digital photos. The clean interface is immediately self-explanatory, with tools for rotating, zooming, and adjusting brightness to the left of the extra-large preview window. The automatic photo-enhancement tool will be useful to novices, and all users will probably like the ability to sepia-tone shots. Digging into the menu reviews a few more editing features, including those for adjusting sharpness, adding blur, removing noise, and applying effects such as emboss and speckling. Still, we find it strange that PhotoEffects lacks a cropper and a red-eye-removal tool, which come standard in most other programs of this type. We re glad the app lets you undo all changes you ve added to a photo, though we wish you could remove one effect a time rather than having to start over from scratch. Still, undemanding shutterbugs seeking a blissfully simple image editor will feel right at home with PhotoEffects.
