Description
CD-DVD InDepth is software for CD and DVD burning and ripping. Data Burner creates and burns traditional data CDs, DVDs, ISO images, and is multisession and bootable. Audio Burner creates and burns audio CDs from WAV, MP3, WMA, and OGG. With this application, you can create DVDs, audio CDs, or data discs that can be read with any PC. It supports most IDE, USB, IEEE1384, SCSI DVD+R/RW, and CD recorders. It records DVD+R/RW and CD discs on the fly, erases rewritable discs, supports buffer protection systems, and is burn proof. The download create fully compatible ISO9660 Level 1, 2, and Joliet data CDs and DVDs, imports multisession CDs and DVDs, and merges new files with an existing session.
Review
This application, while chock-full of useful features to burn and rip CDs or DVDs, has too many stability problems to warrant a positive recommendation. CD-DVD InDepth lets you burn data and audio discs, working with the majority of popular file formats. It also can erase rewritable CDs and DVDs, and rip audio CDs. Despite all these useful features, the program simply crashed too many times during our testing. The error we encountered was an "out of stack space" error. We experienced this error on systems running Windows 2000, as well as Windows XP. After a few restarts, we were able to get the program running. The program interface is far from conventional, resembling a character out of a '80s Transformers robot cartoon. Overall, with a few code tweaks this will be a solid application for burning and ripping CDs or DVDs--until then, you've probably got better things to do than burn and crash.
