Description
Take control of your multimedia collection whether on a hard drive, CDs, or DVDs. The program can automatically extract information on the file. The application has EXIF picture data, MP3 tags, can archive contents (including ZIP, CAB, and RAR files), has CDDB support (audio CDs can have artist and track information filled in from the Internet's FreeDB service). The application also offers IMDB support (movie and games) and thumbnail pictures.
Version 1.2.18 adds Help Wizards.
Review
Organize media files with this powerful program, but be prepared to put some work in before the software truly works for you. Media Manager grabs files in any media format from hard drives, CDs, or DVDs and catalogs them according to the parameters you set. Installation is slow, and program requirements are lengthy unless you're running Windows XP. We liked that you can specify scanning options, such as filtering or excluding certain file types. However, scanning results weren't impressive, as the program is unable to read complete ID3 tags from MP3 files, displaying only file name, path, and length. Other information needs to be inserted manually, or, as an added option, Media Manager can pull information from the Internet (databases such as the CD Data Base, or IMDB, for example.) Overall, a good program for media management but it takes too much time to configure Media Manager to recommend it without reservation.
