Description
3D Pool Pro features both 8-ball and 9-ball career modes and Internet and LAN play. You can play through five locations with different tables, against more than a dozen computer-controlled players. It's also possible to play against computer-controlled opponents with varying skills or against another person in a single match, or over the Internet or a local network. The ball physics are different on each table and include English, jump shots, and accurate movements.
Version 2.0 adds improved performance and vastly improved graphics.
Review
Though it offers a fairly accurate simulation of billiards, 3D Pool Pro takes some getting used to. The game's 3D graphics definitely have improved from earlier versions, and the sound effects are realistic enough. The game provides a good simulation of billiard-ball physics. Playing with your mouse is not very intuitive, so you may want to take the time to learn how to shoot with the keyboard. You can either choose to play single matches against the computer, or you can enter into 8-ball or 9-ball career modes. The program offers an in-depth tutorial, and the control menu can be accessed at any point during the game. We appreciate the features that let us play in a variety of window modes and select from a number of camera views and speeds. 3D Pool Pro makes a decent pick for billiards fans.
