Description
The Computer Cookbook is a program that allows you to enter, edit, view, sort, print, and resize recipes. It includes more than 1,300 family-proportioned recipes and allows you to enter your own recipes the way they were meant to be entered. If the recipe says 2 2/3 cups, then you enter 2 2/3 cups. You don't need to remember that 2 2/3 cups is 2.67 cups. The Computer Cookbook is now a standalone program.
Version 2.5.6 allows you to email recipes and to include photos with the recipes in your cookbook.
Review
This program can quickly store recipes, but doesn't offer an extensive set of features. The Computer Cookbook stores your recipe collection in a FileMaker database, but fortunately its main window is more appealing with colorful and clearly labeled buttons for most major functions. The program is preloaded with 15 recipes, but you can easily add your own or modify and resize ingredients of existing dishes. The e-mail feature was also a nice addition. Although you can search and sort recipes based on name, category, cuisine, or food group, printing options are disabled during trial. Unfortunately, The Computer Cookbook lacks features, such as a meal planner, shopping list manager, or nutritional information, that are commonly found in similar applications in the market. Even so, this application has most of the basics down and can be used by any cooking enthusiast.
