Lux is an awesome game of strategy and domination. Based on the time tested gameplay of the board game Risk, Lux adds everything you could ask for in a computer version. Things such as cool explosions, easy network play, challenging computer AI opponents, and support for a variety of plug-ins with an included map editor. An active user community exists in the online games and forums. Download the free demo and you will not be disappointed.
Lux version 5 adds tons of new stuff. Maps can have starting scenarios built-in to them. Continent values can be set to increase every round. Lux now is translated into 12 languages. It features new graphics and sounds.
Review
If you've ever played the classic strategy board game Risk, Lux will immediately ring a bell. Your mission is to attack your enemies' countries while protecting your own territory from invasion, with the end goal of total world domination. Though you can choose from a variety of preset boards, including classic Risk, the game claims to automatically generate billions of custom boards. The graphics and sound effects have been improved from past versions, but we still doubt Lux's appearance will blow avid gamers away. Despite that, this deceptively simple title is highly addictive and quite challenging, even with the easiest computer partners. You can face up to five opponents, or you can play against a warm body online. Lux gives you a great deal of customization options, allowing you to change such variables as difficulty level, world size, opponent speed, and attacks per click. Though we think many folks will have fun with this game, fans of Risk will be especially enamored.
