Task Lock provides a simple and effective way to password protect specified applications for Windows no matter how they are executed. Its security is easy to configure and requires little to no modifications to your current system configuration. Administrator functions are enabled for site licenses.
Version 6.3 adds improvemenst for Windows XP and 2000.
Review
This program is designed to password-protect your applications, but the demo nag screen displays your passwords. The application consists of two programs: a setup module and the main utility. Task Lock's bland interface is easy enough to navigate, and help files are thankfully included to assist new users. Since the program has two modules, setting up requires a few more steps than novice users will appreciate. Task Lock is easily set to control Windows shutdown and desktop display. The utility starts well with easy configuration, but fails in practice. This demo displays your passwords in a nag screen, eliminating testing this in a real-life environment. Our tests found we could get around this utility to close applications using the Task Manager. The registered version sounds promising but is difficult to gauge with this demo. Experienced users and small-office system administrators may find the registered version of Task Lock useful, but this demo doesn't offer an accurate test.
