Description
The program lets you monitor the running processes and threads so that you get to know which process is legitimate and which might be suspicious (like Trojans listening for a connection)and lets you kill the process and ban it from further connection. A handy tool to compliment your firewall.
Review
This program is designed to block and disable suspicious processes, but it can quickly become more of a hindrance than a useful security measure. Complete Control's well-designed interface has two sections: Main Menu and Options. The first displays the number of running processes with buttons for viewing and monitoring them. Also shown is Jailed Processes, the holding area for suspicious items. When the program is set to monitor, a window appears every time a process tries to run. You have 10 seconds to respond or the process is blocked and must be manually released. Unfortunately, whereas Options allows you to add password protection and place the program in stealth mode, it doesn't offer the fairly standard option of designating processes as known or safe. Also, no help file is offered. Although this program is fairly easy to use, the inability to permit safe processes is a drawback that will lead most to look elsewhere for a monitoring program.
