Review

Editor review

Despite an attractive interface and stylish presentation, this RSS feed reader only works with the mixed bag of "feeds" offered in the publisher's network. The feeds are slightly questionable and reek of Internet scams, with spamlike come-ons promising the seemingly impossible.

DeskView purports to be a minibrowser to view RSS feeds. First, however, you must register for a username and password to access the preloaded feeds. The titles, such as "helping the body heal itself using Internet marketing tools and strategies," don't inspire confidence in their credibility or the author's authority. When we attempted to use the search feature to find authentic RSS feeds, we were told those topics weren't on the Quikonnex Channels.

Funny enough, when DeskView reported it's not on Quikonnex Channels message, it wouldn't refresh back to its home page. It simply hung up, as if interfacing with nonspam threw a glitch in its works.

With its closed-circuit feeds that are all trying to sell you something, it seems more like a TV channel that's been stripped of the shows, leaving only the ads behind. Users can simply open their spam folders to see the same types of offerings found in this dubious application.
