Review
Hot-key utilities don't get much simpler than PCSpeedDialer, though competing utilities offer more features. Similar to other programs of this type, PCSpeedDialer installs in the system tray and provides hot-key access to your most frequently used programs and files. It also offers hot-key access to Internet addresses. You don't get much guidance with this latter feature, however, beyond what's provided in the basic help file. We think PCSpeedDialer could benefit from a few prepopulated hot-key entries to get novice users started. We also note that PCSpeedDialer can't launch programs using special mouse clicks, nor does it support multicharacter shortcuts (aliases). It stretches a huge notification window across the bottom of the screen each time you use a hot key, but you can easily disable this feature. Folks seeking a no-nonsense hot-key application might take a look at this one, but more feature-rich options are available.
