Description

The file-renaming tool assists the user in cleaning up the file names for their files. It does this by cleaning up thing like underscore characters, and just about anything else, you want it to do. It is a basic tool, but it has been very useful for cleaning up the names of files I have downloaded off the Internet.

Review

Editor review

Not quite what its name suggests, File Renaming Tool basically removes unnecessary characters from filenames. The program is an executable, immediately going to work upon launch. Its mundane interface is easy to operate. Your replacement options include removing miscellaneous characters and text or replacing text strings. Unlike more developed renaming tools, it doesn't provide detailed renaming choices. You can't add a prefix, suffix, or numbering scheme to any file or standardize the letter case of filenames. The program was straightforward and worked fast, but we wish we could preview modifications. File Renaming Tool can't batch-rename documents, handle files and folders simultaneously, nor restore files to their original names. The program may be too limited for expert use, but we still recommend it to all levels of users who need a quick and easy way to clean up filenames.
