Slow start, improper suggestions, and program hangs are just some of the problems you'll encounter with this buggy diagnostic utility.
Registry 911's simple function list and option window display is crowded and can't be resized. An option to move the app to the taskbar often prevented it from reappearing. Setting preferences is a simple matter of clicking the proper check boxes.
This utility does quickly check Windows Registry for improper or deleted file paths; unneeded uninstall entries; listed, but missing ActiveX and DLL entries; unused file extensions; and other common problems. However, it quite often suggested the wrong course of action. During our tests, Registry 911 routinely suggested eliminating needed programs from the system startup area. The deep scan to discover invalid file paths was slower than many similar diagnostic tools. Lists of Registry entries slotted for deletion are impossible to sort by value or location. Numerous times during our tests the app would lock after a simple function selection. There appeared to be no rhyme or reason to the issue.
Oddly, each time you run Registry 911, it runs Windows Installer multiple times with the notice that Windows is configuring the utility. With no outstanding functionality, and so many problems, we can't recommend this app to any level user.
