WindowsPager 1.02

Windows / Jochen Baier / 7982 / Full spec
Description

WindowsPager is a powerful desktop-switcher/pager designed to help Windows Vista/7/XP/2000 users manage their virtual workspaces and desktops with ease. This software integrates smoothly into the desktop panel, providing users with a range of features that allow them to arrange their running applications on different desktops, improve overview, and increase productivity.

With WindowsPager, you can create multiple virtual desktops or workspaces for your Windows Vista/7/XP/2000 operating system. This feature allows you to organize your open windows and applications into separate groups based on their function or purpose. For example, you can have one workspace for your email client and web browser while another workspace is dedicated to your project management tools.

The software's integration into the panel makes it easy for users to switch between different virtual desktops quickly. You can also use keyboard shortcuts for switching between different workspaces without having to navigate through menus or click buttons.

One of the most significant benefits of using WindowsPager is its ability to move windows between different virtual desktops by drag 'n drop or by using the window menu. This feature allows you to keep related windows together in one workspace while separating unrelated ones in another.

WindowsPager also offers several patterns that allow users to customize their virtual workspaces according to their preferences. The software supports 64-bit systems and provides dual/multi-monitor support as well.

Another useful feature of this software is its ability to keep a window "sticky," which means it will always be visible regardless of which workspace you are currently working in. Additionally, "Mini-Windows" give an overview from each desktop so that you can see what's happening on other screens without having to switch back and forth constantly.

For those who need notifications when new messages arrive in programs like Mirc, WindowsPager supports "Flashing-Windows." This feature alerts users when there are new messages waiting for them without interrupting their workflow.

If you need a particular window always visible above all others, simply select "Keep on top" from the window menu. Drag `n drop between different virtual workspaces is also possible with this software.

One significant advantage of using WindowsPager is that it does not require administrator rights nor installation before use; hence it's safe even if there's an unexpected crash during usage as automatic window restore occurs via two separate processes implemented within the program itself.

In conclusion, if you're looking for an efficient way of managing multiple tasks simultaneously across various screens without cluttering up your primary display area unnecessarily - then look no further than WindowsPager! With its intuitive interface design coupled with advanced features such as customizable patterns & keyboard shortcuts plus support for dual/multi-monitor setups - this tool has everything needed by power-users seeking greater control over how they interact with digital content daily!

Review

WindowsPager is quite interesting in concept, but in execution it's not too hot. While we see how it could be useful, the program's interface--or lack thereof--makes it frustrating to understand and use.

The program creates four virtual desktops on a user's computer, which are represented by four rectangles next to the system tray. The first contains everything that was open when the program started, and the rest are empty. Of course, since this is the extent of the program's interface--no options or settings or menus--it's not immediately obvious what's going on, and users may be taken aback to find that everything they had open appears to be gone. The program's Help file--if you want to call it that--is a single screen that briefly describes the program's four functions. We did learn here that it's possible to drag and drop a window from one desktop to another, which is useful. Unfortunately, it's difficult to select the proper program because each one is represented by a tiny icon that's barely legible. Sifting through the programs open in each desktop requires a lot of squinting and precise mouse movements. When we're multitasking and have a lot of different programs and projects open, a program like WindowsPager has the potential to be very helpful. Unfortunately, this program falls short.

WindowsPager is free and comes as a ZIP file that requires no installation. We recommend this program, but with reservations; it is useful, but there are likely other programs out there that are much easier to use.
