Short-Circuit-Analytic (SCA) is a powerful educational software that performs available fault currents calculations in three-phase electric power systems. This software takes into consideration electrical parameters of the power supply as well as the power distribution system including utility, cables, bus ducts, transformers, generators, motors etc. SCA automatically converts the entire system into a unique impedance unit from which the short circuit current at each and every point is calculated.

The process of using SCA is simple and efficient. It saves you both money and time by providing accurate results in a matter of minutes. With SCA, you can calculate minimum and maximum available 3-phase and phase-to-phase short circuit currents at each bus within your power distribution system. You can also compute contributions from generators and motors.

One of the key features of SCA is its ability to preview and print multi-page radial single line diagrams. This feature allows you to visualize your power distribution system in an easy-to-understand format.

SCA also saves calculation results and equipment data for future reference. This feature makes it easy to compare different scenarios or make changes to your power distribution system without having to recalculate everything from scratch.

Another important capability of SCA is its ability to complement ARCAD software and mobile apps for arc flash hazard analysis and labeling. By taking into account both active and reactive parts of equipment impedance performing comprehensive short circuit analysis, SCA provides accurate data that can be used for arc flash hazard analysis based on the IEEE 1584 empirical model.

Unlike some industry accepted calculation methods that disregard the equipment X/R ratio or apply correction factors to presumably compensate for errors, SCA calculates total available short circuit current with precision while considering all relevant factors such as upstream sources contributing towards maximum upstream short circuit current or minimum available short circuit current contributed by one source only.

Both ASCC (available short-circuit current) values are required for comprehensive arc flash hazard analysis based on IEEE 1584 empirical model which considers protection device clearing times along with other variables such as distance between worker's face/ chest area & potential arc location when calculating incident energy levels associated with an arcing fault event.
