Exif Pilot 5.10
Description
Exif Pilot: The Ultimate EXIF Editing Software for Digital Photographers
If you're a digital photographer, you know how important it is to keep track of your photos' metadata. Metadata, or EXIF data, contains information about your photos such as the date and time they were taken, the camera settings used, and even GPS coordinates. This information can be incredibly useful when organizing and editing your photos.
That's where Exif Pilot comes in. Exif Pilot is a powerful EXIF editing software that allows you to view, edit, and create EXIF data for your digital photos. With Exif Pilot, you can easily manage all of your photo metadata in one place.
Viewing EXIF Data
One of the most useful features of Exif Pilot is its ability to view EXIF data. When you open a photo in Exif Pilot, it will display all of the available metadata for that photo. This includes information such as:
- Camera make and model
- Date and time the photo was taken
- Shutter speed
- Aperture
- ISO sensitivity
- Focal length
- GPS coordinates (if available)
This information can be incredibly helpful when trying to organize or edit your photos.
Editing EXIF Data
In addition to viewing existing metadata, Exif Pilot also allows you to edit that data. You can change any of the available fields directly within the software. For example:
- You can change the date and time that a photo was taken.
- You can add or modify GPS coordinates.
- You can adjust camera settings such as shutter speed or aperture.
By editing this data within Exif Pilot, you ensure that all of your metadata is accurate and up-to-date.
Creating New Metadata
Sometimes you may need to add new metadata fields to a photo. For example:
- You may want to add copyright information.
- You may want to include details about who took the photo.
With Exif Pilot's "Create" feature, adding new metadata fields is easy. Simply select "Create" from the menu bar at the top of the screen and choose which type of field you want to add (such as "Copyright" or "Artist"). Then enter in any relevant details.
Importing/Exporting Metadata
Exif Pilot also makes it easy to import/export metadata from/to other formats such as XML files or MS Excel spreadsheets. This means that if you have existing metadata stored elsewhere (such as in an Excel file), you can quickly import it into Exif Pilot without having to manually enter each field individually.
Supported Formats
Exif pilot supports several image formats including JPEG images which are now read-edit-and-create-metadata enabled; Canon raw images (CRW & THM); TIFF; NEF; CR2; PEF; SR2; DNG & MRW which are read-only supported by this software version.
Conclusion
Overall, if managing large amounts of digital photographs with accurate meta-data is important for work purposes then investing in an efficient tool like exipilot would be beneficial. It’s user-friendly interface makes navigating through different features seamless while providing users with ample options on how they would like their meta-data displayed.
Review
Exchangeable Image File Format, or EXIF, is an image file specification that stores information about each image. This metadata, as it's commonly known, includes details about the camera's make and model, the artist's name and copyright, shooting information such as aperture, ISO, exposure, and much more. Although the camera generates much of this information automatically when the photo is taken, sometimes the information contained in the EXIF needs to be added to or edited. Exif Pilot is a simple program that allows users to do just that.
Exif Pilot's interface is plain, with a traditional three-pane layout. On the left is a tree-style hierarchical display of folders on the user's computers. When a folder containing images is selected, the file names are displayed in the central pane. On the right there's a small image preview area, as well as a Properties display that lists file, EXIF, and IPTC information. This information is fully editable, making it easy to correct errors (perhaps your camera's date and time were set incorrectly, for example), add information not captured by the camera, or create data for newly digitized images. Exif Pilot also lets users import and export EXIF data in Excel, XML, and CSV formats. The program's built-in Help file is brief but adequate. Overall, Exif Pilot didn't knock our socks off in terms of looks or features, but it's a useful and intuitive tool for working with metadata.
Exif Pilot is free to try, but the trial version is save-disabled. The program installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.
