USB Network Gate 9.0.2205
Description
USB Network Gate is a powerful networking software that allows you to access and use USB devices remotely, as if they were physically connected to your local machine. With this software, you will never experience any issues accessing and using the USB devices that are plugged into remote computers.
Whether you need to access a printer, scanner, webcam, USB dongle or any other supported USB device from your home PC or office laptop anywhere any time, USB Network Gate has got you covered. By intercepting USB port activity of a shared USB device and redirecting it via TCP/IP network, this software lets you work with those devices as if they were physically connected to your local machine.
All that is needed for this seamless connectivity is installing the software on the computer with the physical attachment of the USB device (server) and on the computer where you want to use this device (client). Once installed, USB Network Gate will do all the rest. No additional hardware needed!
One of the best things about this software is its flexibility. You can choose whether Linux or Windows machine will be a client or a server. This means that no matter what operating system your machines are running on; they can easily communicate with each other through their respective client-server configurations.
Moreover, not only does this software allow accessing USB devices over Ethernet but it's also suitable for servers and workstations virtualization. It helps users access and use local USB devices in virtual sessions seamlessly without any hassle.
Thanks to its compatibility with various virtual environments such as VMware ESX, Citrix XenDesktop Microsoft Hyper-V Windows Virtual PC; users can easily work with their desired guest OS while still having full control over their locally attached peripherals.
Another great feature of this networking tool is its ability to integrate useful functionality into your own software through OEM licensing. This means that developers can leverage its capabilities within their applications without having to worry about developing similar functionalities from scratch.
In summary:
- With just two installations - one on server-side & another on client-side - users can enjoy seamless connectivity between remote machines.
- The flexibility offered by choosing either Linux or Windows machines as clients/servers makes it easy for everyone regardless of operating systems.
- Suitable for servers & workstation virtualization environments like VMware ESX/Citrix XenDesktop/Microsoft Hyper-V/Windows Virtual PC.
- OEM licensing allows developers/integrators easy integration into existing applications without worrying about developing similar functionalities from scratch.
Overall, if you're looking for an efficient way to connect remotely located peripherals/devices seamlessly across different platforms/environments then look no further than "USB Network Gate".
Review
USB Network Gate enforces widespread compatibility for USB devices across a network by intercepting USB port activity and redirecting it back to your host PC via TCP/IP. Any USB device configured for your PC will run on any networked PC, including removable drives, scanners, printers, keyboards, and specialized devices like test instruments.
Pros
Pro: USB Network Gate lets network admins and other IT pros configure devices once and use them on all networked PCs instead of scripting a systemwide fix or, worse, configuring them on each machine, one by one.
Flexible: We could display Devices or All Ports (including free ports) or show only shared devices.
Connection options: The Connect Devices menu can add servers, devices, and remote devices; connect with passwords and RDP Auto-connect; connect always or once; and disconnect all or individual devices.
Cons
Dull interface: USB Network Gate's plain list view groups devices by controller under tabs for local and shared network devices. It's a look only a network pro could love.
Pricey: Although it offers intriguing possibilities, USB Network Gate is a bit pricey for most home networks.
Bottom Line
USB Network Gate has the power to make life easier for network administrators or anyone who needs to access a variety of USB devices on networked PCs. While it's probably overkill for the typical home network, it could save real time (and money) in pro environments.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of USB Network Gate 6.2.680.
