Winfilter is software that hides/unhides desktop, start menu, and quick launch icons, hides/unhides files, folders and drives on your computer, and restricts others' behavior on your computer, for example, prevents your friends or your children from changing the desktop wallpaper. Winfilter also can be password-protected to prevent others from running it. Winfilter 3.1 supports non-administrator account: non-administrator user can also use Winfilter to customize their desktop, start menu and other shell features.

WindowsFilter easily hides user-specified folders and Windows components, but concealed folders remain accessible to those familiar with the command prompt window.
This program's functional interface can be password-protected and proves easy enough to operate. Simply select which folders or Windows registry components you would like to hide or disable, then apply your changes and that's it. You easily can prevent access to the Task Manager, Display Properties, and other system tools and settings. You're allowed to save any combination of settings as a Filter Policy, which makes it easy to apply customized levels of access for other users.
In our tests, we weren't able to bypass WindowsFilter to open disabled Windows components, but we were able to open hidden folders. While they weren't shown in the typical places like Windows Explorer, hidden folders could be accessed by typing the complete path in the command prompt window.
This 21-day trial software makes it easy to choose the level of access other users will have on your PC, but if you need full-blown folder protection, you'll want to look elsewhere.
