Description

Getleft is a Web-site grabber. Given a URL, it will download a complete site according to the options specified by the user. It changes the original pages, and changes all the links to relative links so you can surf on your hard disk.

The program has limited FTP support; it will download files but not recursively. It resumes downloading if interrupted. It filters so as not to download certain kinds of files. You can get a site map before downloading. Getleft can follow links to external sites. It features multilingual support for 14 languages. Version 1.2 is a better looking user interface, many bugs were fixed, including some that made Getleft miss some links.

Review

Editor review

This free download tool quickly retrieves all files you need from a given Web site for offline browsing. The interface, available in 13 languages, is somewhat confusing. For example, you have to enter the menu to type in the URL. You can save online time by scheduling and resuming downloads, and by retrieving updates only. To save disk space, you can filter out big files by type or individually on the site map before downloading. The program does its job decently, but its inability to download several files simultaneously may be a major drawback if you want to download an entire site. Therefore, Getleft works best for retrieving small sites or files of one particular type.
