Description
Interlex is a vocabulary builder that helps you learn words and phrases in a foreign language. First you compile a list of words and phrases, then you test yourself until you have learned them. You can use Interlex to create bilingual vocabulary lists in the following languages: Afrikaans, Albanian, Basque, Belorussian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
The program provides targeted testing in four modes; multiple translations; color and sound; automatic keyboard and font selection; a selection of ready-to-use vocabulary files for French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish; and context-sensitive Help and daily tips.

Speak softly but carry a large vocabulary. While not the most visually exciting program, Interlex is a powerful and free application that aids in the mastery of foreign languages. Choosing among dozens of languages, you can practice translation between two tongues and track progress through multiple-choice tests. To begin learning, you can use the program's vocabulary lists, download more from the developer's site, or build your own. Geared to push you toward more difficult words and phrases, the program removes terms from the testing list once you master them. Still, we think the addition of a pronunciation option would help improve the overall learning experience. That said, this is a great program for language learners anywhere, and it comes at no financial commitment.
