Quick Pause has been developed to assist with the common problem of keyboard and mouse overuse. This is an increasingly important health and safety issue with Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) and Occupational Overuse Syndrome (OOS) becoming more common. Quick Pause offers preventative and analysis modes. In preventative mode Quick Pause will remind you to take breaks from your computer. Quick Pause allows you to specify when you want to take breaks.

This simple freeware monitors computer usage and prompts you to take regular breaks. QuickPause offers two modes, Preventative and Analysis, and allows you to configure short and long break reminders. You can select a keyboard usage limit in hours and minutes, and view usage information. QuickPause monitors keystrokes and mouse movements to determine usage trends, and you can use the online reporting tool to analyze computing habits with charts and graphs. It's accessible through the program and will require your e-mail address for free registration. A tiny countdown message appears to remind users of breaks, but the program doesn't lock the keyboard or mouse. You can cancel breaks or opt not to take them, but the program will reset its timer if the keyboard or mouse is used during this time. Unlike similar programs on the market, QuickPause doesn't offer stretching exercises, but it does serve as a useful reminder for users of any level that it's time to take a break.
