Review
Some of the best project-management applications work to be all things to all people--flexible, yet easy to use, too. While this program offers a quick way to access projects and deadlines, its feature set isn't as robust as it could be. Project and Task Manager keeps track of planning and other administrative projects created in the database program FileMaker, with which this application was developed. Because of this, the program takes up a lot of memory compared to other similar applications. The program interface resembles a standard Windows pane, with drop-down menus and a few one-push buttons to create a new project or list projects by criteria. Its range of features isn't too impressive, however. Project & Task Master can't create reports with inserted charts, or create independent Gantt charts, as can most competing project management software. If you're familiar with FileMaker, this program echoes many of the program's features and functions--but doesn't improve on them. As a scheduler, this program performs adequately. But for more advanced project management capabilities, a busy manager should look elsewhere.
