Description
This emulator allows you to run almost any CD/DVD-ROM (not CSS-copy protected DVD)applications from your hard drive or network server. In your hard drive space, you can establish and access up to 23 different virtual CD/DVD-ROM drives. It works by creating image files of the CD/DVD-ROM 's content on your hard drive. It can also run programs much faster than they would if they were running off a conventional CD/DVD-ROM drive.
Review
For some computer owners, the need to use CDs and DVDs in the age of downloadable software is an annoyance bordering on insult. CDSpace is one of many programs that allows virtual copies of CDs and DVDs (although not copy-protected movie DVDs) to be transferred to a hard drive, and used there just as though the disc was still in the drive. However, we found it considerably less flexible than other rival disc-emulation programs. It creates disc "images" in its own format, LCD, and reads another popular format called ISO, but does not recognize other common formats such as Nero (NRG) or Easy CD Creator (CIF). The software provides few options for managing or organizing disc images once they have been created, offering only the ability to scan hard disks for image files. Overall, CDSpace trails rival applications on several fronts, and users can easily get the same functionality from other freeware applications.
